New minister The Rev. Robert Evans is the new minister at First Presbyterian Church, 710 Kansas City St. He recently retired from a career as a U.S. Navy chaplain; his wife, Gretchen, also retired after a career in the Navy. Evans will preach his first sermon at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, April 20. There will be an opportunity to welcome them over refreshments at 9:30 a.m. in the social room at the church.

All five suspects who are on trial in Turkey for the deaths of three Christian martyrs allegedly slain in a vicious attack by Muslims who had agreed to meet them at a Bible publishing house have denied responsibility, instead pointing fingers at each other.
