The Tibetan Government-in exile has requested that in light of the recent earthquake in China, all protests by Tibetans and Tibet supporters against the Chinese government be suspended until the end of May.

Police and Fire service staff are currently at the scene of a train V pedestrain fatality on the Upper Hutt line. At approximately 3.30pm a male was hit by a North bound train several hundred metres north of the Epuni railway station. The male was killed instantly.
