Longtime cellist who founded concert series dies at 73 (Naples Daily News)

Bert Phillips, a man who spread music wherever he went, died Wednesday evening in Bethesda, Md. He was 73. Phillips, a longtime cellist who performed all over the United States, was being treated at the National Institutes of Health for an undisclosed illness. His wife and collaborator, concert pianist Toby Blumenthal, was with him.
