Wild weather for north-eastern NSW (The West Australian)

A severe storm warning has been issued for north-eastern NSW with large hailstones, heavy rain, flash flooding and high winds expected. Kempsey is already experiencing heavy rain and radar images suggest small hail may also have hit the town, the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) says.

George P. Cressman, a former National Weather Service director who took the lead in applying computers to meteorology and helped change weather forecasting from a form of cloud-gazing guesswork to a codified science, has died. He was 88.
