MALTA — The town’s fire companies are re-evaluating plans to build a shared, downtown fire station on Dunning Street after the Town Board declined to endorse their vision for the site.

The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry is not in favour of a concession, as suggested by others, for shop owners to open on February 10, the feast of St. Paul’s Shipwreck. Neither is it in favour of shops opening during public holidays and Sundays.

Malta with the highest early-school leavers in EU

Malta has the highest rate in early-school leavers (36.9%) and one of the lowest (20%), in achieving the tertiary attainment target of 40% for the EU2020. According to a joint EU report the EU is at risk on missing targets on early school leaving and graduate education.
