Whole Foods Market 2nd-quarter profit falls due to acquisition of Wild Oats; sales rise (Canadian Business)

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Whole Foods Market Inc. said Tuesday that sales surged in the second quarter but absorbing the Wild Oats chain it bought last year caused profit to sag by 13 percent.

WASHINGTON - U.S. retail sales excluding cars were surprisingly strong in April, showing consumers still willing to add spending punch to the economy despite soaring food and energy prices, a government report showed on Tuesday.
