(RTTNews) - Statistics Canada released the results of its Canadian labor force survey for the month of April on Friday, with employment increasing by more than economists had been expected. The agency also released a separate report showing a wider than expected Canadian trade surplus.

The employment rate in the province stands at a record high 52.6 per cent with the addition of 24 hundred new jobs in April. But the unemployment rate increased from 12.6 per cent in March to 13.2 per cent last month.
