Cornell University President David Skorton was named the chairman of the Business-Higher Education Forum, a national organization of Fortune 500 CEOs and senior executives, prominent college and university presidents and foundation leaders working to advance innovative solutions to U.S. education challenges, the organization announced Tuesday.

Madelyn Shipman has joined the Reno law firm of Laxalt & Nomura. Shipman has extensive experience in matters involving public records and open meeting laws. Shipman earned her bachelor's degree from American University in 1964, and her law degree from Hamline University College of Law in 1977.
