Kuwait bans images of celebrities on school books (Russian Information Agency Novosti)

DAMASCUS, August 29 (RIA Novosti) - The Kuwaiti education ministry has banned schools pupils from bringing exercise books and other school items, decorated with photos of soap stars to classes, local media said on Friday.

Election years are supposedly off years for books, when we're all too busy following the news. Author-filmmaker-activist Michael Moore thinks we should even take a break from reading any of the fall releases, including his own, and get out there and work for our favorite (progressive) candidates.

HARRISON CHUNG loves books. So much so the Floraville Public School kindergarten student, who has been a regular borrower at his public library since he was two, has charged ahead in the Premier's Reading Challenge, clocking up more than 150 books.
