Ely students headed back to class on Tuesday for the 2008-09 school year. According to K-12 principal Joselyn Murphy, the start sailed through without much of a fuss—at least on the administrative end.

SchoolCity Inc., a Silicon Valley-based K-12 technology firm announced the release of their 2008 version of California SchoolCharts(TM) for all public schools, districts and county offices of education in the state. They also announced that access to this tool would be free of charge for California educators until December 31, 2008.

A learning center at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art will be named for a foundation that has provided a $500,000 grant. "This support will make a difference for K-12 students, their teachers, and their families through the many resources at our new John S. and James L.
