ANOTHER of Cork’s electronics manufacturers is to close, bringing to three the number of electronics firms that have gone out of business in the city in little more than a year.

Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty is reminding Staten Island residents that the New York City Department of Sanitation's Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling is teaming up with Verizon Wireless to collect old cell phones at its annual Electronics Recycling and Clothing Donation events this spring.

Tyco Electronics Ltd. today announced a series of initiatives aimed at supporting earthquake relief efforts focused on the Sichuan Province in China. On behalf of the company's 94,000 employees around the world -- including 32,000 who are in China -- Tyco Electronics has made a US$150,000 cash contribution to the Red Cross Society of China to support the overall relief effort.
