Xerox Corp. says second-quarter profit skidded 19 percent but matched Wall Street's forecasts. Restructuring charges dragged down the office equipment maker's results. The company's core business of selling ink and other supplies to companies that have already bought Xerox printers, copiers and other machinery grew 10 percent over last year.

Cape library purchases computers with grant money (Southeast Missourian)

A $7,703 Library Services and Technology grant and a 25 percent match by the Cape Girardeau Public Library enabled the purchase of nine new public access computer stations and two printers at the library. The equipment will increase speed and reliability for library users at computer stations.

The resumption of federal parliament next month could be disrupted by a strike by parliamentary staff. If a pay dispute is not resolved, a group of trade unions representing a diverse cross-section of staff including security guards and printers may strike on August 26.
